What an exciting experience it is when it comes time to decorate the nursery. And if your mind is racing with ideas, you’re not alone. There are many different baby room designs to choose from. It can be a bit overwhelming if you’re asking me.
One thing to consider is whether you’re planning on having any more babies and if so, would you want to purchase additional nursery products or do you plan to reuse what you have? If you’re looking for a simple way to save money and possibly use your nursery for other babies down the road, it’s a good idea to find a theme that you can easily use over and over again.

Baby Room Decorating Ideas
If planning to have more than one baby, it might be best to pick a neutral theme. And trust me on this, there are tons of neutral options out there!
A neutral theme is also good for someone who chooses not to find out the sex of the baby beforehand. It works out great so that way you can still get into that nesting phase without having to worry about the sex of the baby.
There are many cute themes that can work both for boys and girls. Not everything has to just deal with a certain color to be for boys or girls.

Initially, people think of bedding for the crib when it comes to nursery planning. This is probably the easiest way to decorate a nursery. However, there are many other items that can fit into the decorating scheme. Don’t limit yourself to just a print that you’re going to find on bedding. Have fun thinking of other items to show off your baby room theme!
A diaper stacker and laundry hamper are both very practical items. (and if you’re crafty, you can even make these items on your own!) A mobile is something a baby will get a lot of enjoyment from and you can find some really cute mobiles if you look online or talk to local artists.
A lamp is both practical and decorative as well and is something that you’re actually going to need in the nursery, too. Let the room come to life with other items including wall decor, window treatment or window valance. I can promise you…there is literally something for any part of your nursery if you want it to have a theme!

If planning to wait until the baby is born to find out if it’s a boy or girl, you may want to wait on planning the nursery until then. Although, some people do have a hard time with this – and that’s understandably so. BUT, if you do decide to wait, it’s totally reasonable as well. After all, the baby will be rooming with you initially. That means that you’ll have time to figure out the nursery in the months that follow the birth of your baby.

Choosing a theme is a really fun part of creating a baby room and it also gives you a ton of creative freedom. From bedding to accessories, there are lots of great items that can help you make the best nursery you can think of.
But just remember – the nursery decor can be as simple or elaborate as you want. Do what you want to do during your nesting phase and make your baby nursery as adorable as possible.
You can always update or change it out later as you need to! One simple rule to remember is that if you are being wishy-washy about what to choose for your nursery, don’t force it!
